Al “Scarface” Capone was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1899 to Italian immigrants.
Capone was a troubled youth, and had quit school after the sixth grade (The FBI Famous Cases
and Criminals, n.d.). In 1920 Capone had moved to Chicago, Illinois and soon began working for
known crime boss Johnny Torrio. Capone’s activities included pimping prostitutes, gambling,
and smuggling alcohol. In 1925 there was a failed attempt to assassinate Torrio. Torrio did not
