About the Download

Several years ago, a major automotive company had a division which developed a highly successful car in the United States under the name of “Nova.”  This sporty little car was very popular.  A decision was made to take the same car to Mexico and to begin to sell it there.  To the manufacturer’s amazement, the car did not go over well.  Upon investigation, it was discovered that the word “Nova” in Spanish means, “No go.”

Instructions:
•              Research and find two other instances in which a product was not well received because of cultural differences resulting in miscommunication with another culture.
•              Write a paper that is 2-3 pages in length including the following:
◦               Explain the situation describing cultural differences that affected the roll out of the product.
◦               Provide three criteria for introducing new products with an understanding on how culture makes a difference in selling a product.
