Greg quit his job as a grocery store assistant manager. He could not stand the fact that his manager was of another race than he and seemed always to favor employees of the manager’s race over employees of Greg’s race. From Greg’s point of view, people of his race always got the least favorable shifts, had to do the least pleasant work, and were less likely to get promotions. He quit and then sued the grocery store chain for discrimination. Describe Greg’s presentation at a mediation versus the case he would prepare to go to court. What is the difference?
If you were the plaintiff in Greg’s case, would you prefer arbitration or a jury trial? What if you were the defendant grocery store chain?
