College and university recruiting is an interesting and relative concept that was discussed in chapter 6, page 212. In fact, there are many companies that do look at specific schools for their recruitment process. However, in todays educational environment, with the number of online college courses that are offered through various colleges and universities, college recruiting is not what it used to be. Specifically, close to the scheduled graduation time frames, there are companies that setup tents and students are advised to arrive dressed in professional business attire with their resumes and they are scheduled for employment interviews. Usually, these recruitment seminars are heavily advertised on the college websites and sometimes the news will have a small blurb about a college hosting a job fair. Presently, there are also job fairs that are held at a number of different hotels, which are usually industry specific.
Based on this information, please share the experience that you may have with college recruiting. Did you feel that it was beneficial for your career goals?
